My baking has always been terrible but this cake turned out to perfection! I was so happy at the end result. I did however find the frosting to be a little too rich for my taste buds but the husband loved it. Definitely will be whipping this up again!

Awesome cake!!!!!! the frosting was fabulous...let me just say that the cake was very moist not too sweet at all, and for the frosting...well I think the sour cream made it just right..so it would not be too sweet.I baked it in a 13x9 bake pan and it turned out great...I'm glad I made this cake...I know for sure that is going to be my favorite frosting from now on anyway!!!

This cake was excellent! I followed the directions almost exactly and came out with a perfect cake! I used 1/2 cup of coffee instead of water to enhance the chocolate flavour. it was perfectly moist! The icing was very good but a little to rich for me, so I may modify it next time, but this will definately be a go to recipe for me!

This cake was delicious and was not dry for me at all. Instead it had a dense, almost brownie-like consistency. And the icing was sooo good! My husband (who is a really good Southern cook said it was the best chocolate cake he ever had. It is very rich, though, so make sure to have plenty of milk on hand to go with it!

This cake was awesome. Thank you, Jamie Deen! I took heed to what some earlier reviewers were saying about the cake being dry. Jamie Deen lives in the humid south, I live in the dry north, so I increased the hot water to nearly one cup. The cake was incredibly moist and flavorful! It is my new go-to chocolate cake. The frosting was thick and creamy, and turned out great also. I think I will use milk chocolate in it next time though, to help cut on the richness.

Really yummy cake! One reminder for folks in the Mile High Denver area - we need to add about 2 Tbsp of flour to the batter or it will fall in the center. Thanks Jamie - this will be a staple at our family dinners!

Awesome recipe! Rarely do I make a recipe so quickly after I've seen it on TV but this looked so easy I had to try. Made this for my little 3 year old cousin's birthday. He's a chocoholic and he loved it along with the whole family. It was the slightest bit dry but not enough to really notice. The amount of frosting was perfect and the cake came out nice and big. I suggest for anyone who's cake turned out crumbly: try greasing the pan with butter or shortening then lightly flouring. Works for me every time so the cake never falls apart when you flip it out of the pan. Hope this helps.

This cake was perfect! I did not have buttermilk so I used powdered buttermilk and the cake still came out perfect. Cooked in 30 minutes as instructed and was moist as well as delicious! I used my homemade frosting but will try his next time. Good bye box cake!
