There was nothing wrong with this recipe, but it didn't wow me either. I have made other tortilla soups and they don't require a slow cooker. The chicken was very tender which was nice.

Mine came out very bland. I used chicken breasts rather than thighs, all broth rather than broth & water, at least double the amount of cumin, and plenty of chili powder.. it was still pretty boring. I wouldn't make this again.

This was a wonder and easy soup!!! I put in the whole box of chicken broth and left out the jallapino as we had little kids eating. Both of my daughters want this recipe and will fix it for their families. Thank you!

This was an easy and very hearty Tortilla Soup. I made this for the family after my sister came home with her new baby! All we had to do was put the ingredients in the slow cooker and Viola' dinner was done. We made a fresh guacamole and sprinkled cheddar cheese on top w/ some tortilla chips and we grubbed down on the whole pot!

I went to make this soup and ended up becoming a dip for my super bowl party. It was a hit! I cannot rate this recipe any higher since it wasn't the same. For those who may be interested, Here is what I did:

1 package of chicken breast tenders (the standard size in the meat section
10 ounce can of original Rotel
A small amount of black beans (I didn't want it to become like red beans – could be omitted
1 ½ cups of chicken broth
    1 yellow onion (chopped
    3 garlic toes (minced
    ½ teaspoon of ground cumin
    ½ teaspoon of chili powder
    -------
1 large package of Queso Blanco Velveeta
½ cup (or more jalapeno's from the fridge – the kind you put on your nachos
    1 bunch of green onions

I cooked all the ingredients (except the Velveeta, Jalapenos, and green onions in the slow cooker for 8 hours. I shredded the chicken and then added those last three ingredients before the party.

This recipe was easy, but did taste kind of plain. I even added corn, and then topped with sour cream and avocado. If I make it again I think I'll double the beans, tomatoes, and corn.

Loved it! Added half a green pepper, included the jalapeno seeds, added a bit more cumin and chili powder. Used 1 cup water and 2 cups stock. Very tasty. Love the addition of sour cream and avacado.

This recipe was very plain. It tasted like it had too much water and not enough flavor. When it was all done I tripled the spices and it was still too bland. Next time (although I will not make this again I am going to not use the water.

Really tasty! I was skeptical, but it came out great. I watched youtube to learn how to skin the chicken thighs and added a green pepper and some chipotle in adobo because I had to use those items from the fridge. Added a little sour cream to my bowl as well. Husband loved it, too!
