I have made two other baked French Toast casseroles, but this one wins (made it for Christmas morning for it's broad appeal. It is not too rich, but the texture after 70 minutes in the oven (toasty on the top with a custard-y texture on the bottom was well-received. I used a dozen eggs and half and half instead of cream, and fed a crowd with a little bit left over (perfect to reheat.

This recipe was excellent and could not have been easier! I ran out of brown sugar, so had to use 1/4cup brown and 1/4cup white in the topping. I was going to try and skip the topping altogether, but about 30 minutes into the cook time it looked like it was really dry, so I threw the topping together and added it. I also used challah bread and cooked for about 1 hour 25 minutes. It was cooked through, but still quite moist.

I made this recipe for good friends for Christmas Eve brunch. I didn't have french or sour dough bread so I used some of my home made whole wheat bread. It turned out fabulous! Everyone loved it and commented on the rich tasted and flavor the whole wheat bread gave. I highly recommend it. This recipe will be our new christmas tradition.

This is the best casserole!! Ree is amazing. I just love her cooking. My husband can't get enough of this. I have made it many times for him sometimes baking it before I go to work for him. I am not a big fan of bread pudding but this is simply amazing. I usually make a half a recipe since it's just the 2 of us but I always end up making another one just a couple days later. Thanks Ree!! I would love to come cook with you in your kitchen.

Fabulous and easy recipe! Heavenly as is but made a wonderful holiday version by changing the heavy cream for eggnog and added a dash of nutmeg. Very popular!

Fabulous! I had been looking for a make ahead breakfast caserole for Christmas morning and tried this one. I didn't have any heavy cream so I substituted fat free half and half. I also used 1% milk since that's what my family uses. My family loves it! It was so yummy and easy! I will definitely make this again!

I made this for a quilt retreat recently with an apple filling at the bottom and it was sensational and a hit. Very sweet so it almost doesn't need syrup.
