I thought the pie had wonderful flavor. As other mentioned, the pie was beautiful. I used a large Le Creuset over 10" dia pie plate. This was a mistake as the filling was spread too thin. If any changes I think I will chop pecans just a tad to make serving/eating a little more enjoyable for my preference. For others who are considering this recipe please do not skimp on ingredients. Use quality REAL ingredients. I would be will to bet the previous reviewers who were not satisfied 1 changed recipe cause "I’ve been cooking a long time and I know best" or 2 used subpar ingredients. This pie certainly does not fall into the worse pie ever category. Come on people. Keep pumping out fun, new, and interesting recipes Ina!

Picture perfect outcome, but the flavor of the orange zest was overpowering. Would make again, but with less zest.

I made this exactly per the recipe, and brought it to a party. Everyone loved it. The flavor was rich and well-balanced, and just a little sweet. The texture was perfect, and the filling around the nuts was moist and melted nicely on the tongue. The recipe yielded just enough filling and nuts (added whole pecans halves by weight to fill a 9-inch pie shell.

My daughter made this pie for Thanksgiving and although the pecans were delicious the whole pie seemed to be lacking a 'filling' and all we had was glazed pecans in a pie shell! She had followed the recipe to the T so we do wonder if you (Food Network posted the recipe correctly...please check with Ina because we can't imagine Ina serving a pie that turned out like this one. Thanks!!

Oh my goodness, this pie was simply beautiful on the outside, but it was sadly the worst pecan pie I've ever made on the inside. Like some of the other reviewers, the marriage of flavors simply did not work. As a southern cook, we know our pecan pies and this recipe is a pure waste of expensive pecans. My son goes to college in Vermont and I thought it would be a nice nod to him to make a pie with maple syrup. Fortunately, I also made my "tried and true" pecan pie recipe and was able to shove this one down the disposal after everyone agreed it was a no-go. I'm a huge Ina Garten fan and this is the first recipe I've tried of hers that didn't rate 5 stars.

Absolutely loved this pecan pie. The only difficulty I had was trying to cut uniform pieces because of the large size pecans. You also have to make sure you whisk after each added ingredient and also let the butter cool down a little, otherwise, the egg may curdle. Other than that, it was a delightful change from the over -sweet versions of pecan pie. Will make this again and probably cut the pecans a little for easier serving...

The only changes I made was that I used dark corn syrup and omitted the bourbon. The pie was delicious and everyone commented on how delicious it was. I tried the recipe because it called for honey and I have an amazing bee keeper locally and I'm always looking for recipes to use heir honey. I didn't put in he entire amount of pecans because I agree it's too much. Don't put in any more than a tspn of orange zest. The texture was not too thick like some other pies can be. I don't agree with the other reviews and would not change the recipe because why even try it if you don't like the taste of honey. Enjoy

This was a big hit at the thanksgiving table! Mine turned out really good. The only change I made was using a store bought pie crust. Everything else I followed by the recipe. Thanks Ina! I know I can always count on your recipes!

I am a huge fan of Ina, but this pie is TERRIBLE and should be avoided at all costs. The orange is overwhelming and the rest of the favors create a hot mess, especially the bourbon. Even using expensive honey, maple syrup and fancy pecans, there was no marriage of favors. it also requires WAY too many pecans. II followed the recipe exactly btw. It looks absolutely beautiful on the outside and like the dog's breakfast once you cut into it. The texture is disgusting. Every Thanksgiving we host a pecan pie throw down. This year a Food Network Magazine recipe won (the one with a vanilla bean and this recipe lost in all categories except appearance.
