I've been looking for a good recipe for fish tacos, and I think I found it. I used mahi mahi, and the marinade was fantastic. I've never cooked with achiote paste before, but it imparted a sweet, distinctly Mexican taste to the fish which was well received by my guests. The habenero salsa was also quite tasty -- it had a bit of heat, but nothing overpowering. This is a fun dish to entertain with because it lets guests put together their own dinner. I highly recommend it!

I couldn't find anchiote paste so I used Goya's seasoning with culantro and anchiote about half an envelope(Hispanic foods isle. The salsa was on point though! I left out the cilantro because I am not a big fan but added more parsely and loved it!

I thought this was a very good recipe, but I would suggest using something other than the Red Snaper.

Until this recipe, I had only had good fish tacos at a resturant on the Central Coast of California! This recipe reminded me SO much of those delicious tacos!! I couldn't find the achiote paste...so I just omitted it. The lime juice I used was "sweetened" and this gave the fish (and salsa a wonderful flavor. It was also nice that this meal was a BBQ meal...and not fried (like so many fish tacos recipes. I wrapped the fish in a aluminum foil "envelope" to cook on the grill...so the fish wouldn't flake and fall between the grill. I left out the habanero peppers, b/c we aren't fans of the spicy. This was one of the most deliecious meals I have prepared in a long time...especially with fish!

This is one of our long-time favorites!! You can broil the fish in the oven, turning it once if you don't feel like grilling. Also, I've substituted catfish and it's just as great!!
