I will never cook turkey another way. Easy & moist. I did soak it in brine for 12 hrs before and put carrots, celery, onion and apples in the cavity. All of Trisha's recipes I have tried exceed my expectations.

I made this turkey for our early Thanksgiving meal and it turned our great. It was the easiest method I've ever seen, and it came out perfectly cooked. Next time I make a turkey, I might add some fresh herbs to the butter.

It works!!! I have never had a turkey so moist, the bones literally pulled out clean from the meat! Lots of drippings for dressing and gravy!

I have been doing this method for over 30 years. My mother passed it on to me and this method has always yielded a moist tasty turkey. It is nice to actually see it posted on Food Network. The drippings make wonderful gravy.

Cooked a turkey today wit Trisha's recipe and it turned out great. The white meat was a little dry, but I used a smaller organic turkey which tends to be more dry. It was very simple. I did use a roaster with a rack. I wouldn't put it directly in the water as it would likely have a boiling effect instead of roasting. It was light brown in color and I would definitely do this method again.

I made this turkey today, WOW it is wonderful. This would make a great dish to make on Sunday. Get it into the oven and the first hour done before going to church. Come home and finish sides and a great Sunday lunch. So easy and so moist without the cooking bag!!

I was very skeptical about this method but it was delicious. The recipe does not indicate to put the turkey on a rack but I did that and then it wasn't swimming in broth. It looked brown and the meat fell off the bones. Very juicy. I will surely use this method again. Thanks.

Sorry everybody, this was an epic fail! I'm not sure why there are some variations in the comments left on this post, but there seems to be some disagreement on the method and results. We followed the recipe exactly, using the size turkey, temperature, and method recommended. Well, the turkey came out pale, swimming in broth, and RAW! It didn't cook evenly and we were very disappointed. This was for a Thanksgiving meal at church today, so now we're stopping by to pick up some fried chicken...not the Thanksgiving meal we'd planned. We didn't want to finish cooking the turkey with another method because we were afraid of transfer of bacteria.

I made this turkey today to see if I like it any better than the traditional cooking method. Wow it was super easy. Very moist! Skin was pale....no crisp skin to be found. It needs some flavor but the method was great! I got concerned at the 4 hour mark because the temp in the oven had gone to 139 and I was worried about that. I let it go the full time and so far I don't have food poisoning.
