This is so delicious even on its own. I almost ate the entire pan... I wouldn't change a thing and its so filling.

This is a great idea for a recipe that suffers from much too much water (4-5 cups! to cook 0.5 cups of lentils. I agree with Sara9503 that it can be fixed by draining the lentils, but then you end up throwing away too much of the carrot, onion, bell pepper and garlic flavor. 1/2 t of oregano in all that liquid is also rather sad. The cooking editors were asleep at the wheel on this one.

These were really good! It felt more like a complete meal with the vegetables and lentils rather than meat and bread. Even the super meat eaters loved it.

This is a great recipe and very easy to make, although a bit more time consuming than regular sloppy joes. The flavors are on the spot and I hadn't ever had lentils before, but thought the consistency was fine. My lentils didn't soak up the initial 4 cups of liquid after 45 mins, so I just drained them (reserving a cup of the liquid and added them to the beef. I added back in a half cup of the liquid and let it cook for another few minutes. It was perfect. Would make again.

We enjoyed this recipe. After tasting, I ended up doubling the beef because I am not used to beans in my sloppy joes. But I think I could reduce it after getting used to the texture. Great flavor and healthy too!
