fast fast fast. I love it. I used a Hamilton Beach 6qt crockpot it took less time. I would suggest don't set and forget it. Keep an eye on the chocolate but don't stir till melted and I would use minnie cupcake paper. For the 1 star people you ought to give it another try. Every appliance different.

One of the fastest, easiest and best tasting treats I ever got off TV. Know your crockpot and maybe try half for the first time.
    FANTASTIC!

After reading the other reviews, I decided to try the recipe anyway, but scaled down. I cut the ingredients to 1/3 the amount just in case it flopped. It came out fabulous!!! I did add a tsp of vanilla at the end. The thing is, you have to know your slow cooker. Trisha used a fancy Cuisinart with digital dials. I had a little crock pot which you plug in and it comes on (I used a crock pot liner also. The warming time took 45 min to an hour due to the smaller amount. She said you can walk away, but if you know your brand slow cooker gets hot quickly, it only takes a short time to melt. I mean a pot of hot water can melt chocolate in minutes. You do the math. Great candy. I'll make it again.

EASTER VERSION: I dyed coconut green and placed a bit in each cup before the chocolate. Then I put more green coconut on top and sprinkled with pastel candies. Turned out beautiful and very tasty!!!

I, too, was a bit worried because of the negative reviews. Forged ahead anyway. My grocery store didn't have almond so I used vanilla. I never smelled peanuts but three hours was just perfect. I stirred it all together, nothing at all was burned to my crockpot, piece of cake. It made *a lot* of candies ( I ended up with over 60, so this would be good to make for a crowd. I could easily halve this recipe and use my smaller crockpot, and put less in mini muffin cups, as I was satisfied after eating half of one! Ignore the negative reviews, and just know your crockpot.

This turned out great! I was skeptical at first with all of the negative reviews. The 3 hours were just perfect. I would use less peanuts next time. The candy is rich, but a smooth chocolate taste. It made about 60 candies. I will use mini liners next time. Can't wait to try different versions.

How difficult can this be?? Put everything in, and forget about it. I started checking after 2 hours. The chocolate burned, nothing melted together. Thank goodness I test drove this before serving it at Easter brunch. This was an expensive flop!

I loved this recipe!!! Like any cooking utensil, pot, stove, oven or Crock Pot, you have to know yours. If it over cooks cut back on the time and likewise if it under cooks you need to add time. My crock pot under cooks so I never smelled the peanuts cooking but after the 3 hours everything was melted so I proceeded and used mini cupcake papers (think I filled over 50. They were perfect bite size pieces. Everyone wanted the recipe. If your doing this for the first time and start to smell the peanuts check the crock pot and see if everything is melted, if it is go on and stir it up. If it is not quite ready give it a little more time and then check it again. Like Emeril says "It's not rocket science."

I attempted to make this candy @ Christmas and it was a total failure. The peanuts and melted chocolate burned badly on the bottom of the crockpot. Yearwood said on her cooking show featuring this recipe to not worry about the burned smell, so I didn't. Big mistake.

The ingredients, added up, are too expensive for this type of mistake.
