so, putting putting the filling back in the frige did not help but I put it on the cake anyway and let it slide down the cake and it made the cake taste extra moist and wonderful, my sister, mother, and husband loved it. I also kept in the fridge so the cream would not go bad!!!! the cake was a hit as it was my first from scracth thanks food network!!!!!!!

Heavenly! I did not have any issues with the filling and it was my favorite part of the cake. I have not made a chocolate cake from scratch before and this was dense, moist and yummy, no more mixes from a box.

The cake came out great as well as the topping, but I also had trouble with the filling. The first time, the filling did not set at all. Then I remade the filling using another recipe similar to one called Vanilla Bean Pastry Cream found here. I substituted mint for the vanilla bean. My guess is that this recipe did not call for enough egg yolk.

I'm not a fan of mint with chocolate, but since it was my daughter's birthday and it was her request... This was very easy to make. No trouble getting the green layer to set at all. Required closer to 90 minutes in the fridge than 60, but time wasn't a problem. I would've liked the whipped topping to be a little sweeter, but once the chips were added and we ate everything together the lack of sweetness to the topping wasn't so noticeable.

Overall this cake was easy to make & turned out great. I made this for a birthday party & everyone liked it. My cakes came out perfect & moist. I did have trouble with the filling. It did not set for me, but I salvaged it by whipping in a pack of cream cheese a bit at a time to create a smooth filling. I would definitely make this again, especially the basic chocolate cake recipe.

This was the worst thing I have ever made and the biggest waste of time. The cake was passable, but the filling in the middle looked like green slime because it never "set up." Consequently, the top layer just slid off the bottom one. The whipped topping had no flavor. I threw the entire thing in the trash. I would never make this again.

Unbelievably good and looks like it came from a bakery. I did follow the previous reviewer's suggestion of more powdered sugar and peppermint. Also I highly recommend that you make the filling first so it can set while making the cake. I had alot left over and my husband ate it like pudding! Just yummy!

Absolutely fantastic! I made this for a dinner party and everyone loved it! I made 2 slight changes to the whip cream topping, I increased the peppermint extract to 1/4 teaspoons and increased the confectioners sugar to 3 tablespoons.
