5 Stars!!! Made these Sunday night and not one left! My family ate them all and were asking for more. Definately need some kind of dipping sauce with them (we are dippers lol. Stand mixer was a great trick... so easy. Will definately make again!

Too dry. I live in Colorado and don't know if the altitude had anything to do with it but I would cut the Bisquick to two cups if I were to try it again.

I thought I did something wrong too with these. They were extremely dry and hard to roll, almost like they're missing something, maybe an egg or some milk for moisture? Any suggestions? Don't think I'll be making them again.

I must have done something wrong. The mixture was dry hard to roll in ball I added some oil to help make the mixture stick together. Expected them to be greasier after baking but they were dry. I used shredded cheddar could that be the problem? Would like to try them again but hate to waste food. Suggestions?

Like others' reviews state, I have made these sausage balls for years. However, my recipe is a tad different. I use one pound "hot" sausage (either Owens or Jimmy Dean, 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and 2 cups Bisquick. I never thought of using my stand mixer! I'll have to try it. My hands get really tired! Everyone LOVES these! They are a staple during the holidays.

Like Trisha, all of us good Southern girls have made and eaten our share of these delish sausage balls, the standard for nibbling at get togethers. I make mine with the same recipe as done on the show but with smaller balls...more balls to eat, less guilt, and crunchier. Serve them with assorted mustards or sweet chili sauce, yum. I tried to cook the sausage but had to add the butter as Shirley did, and thought the original recipe was better and less trouble as the butter adds the fat back in anyway.

I've been making these for many years, but there are 4 small differences in my recipe. 1. Brown the sausage and drain grease before adding it to the Bisquick.
    2. Cut 1/2 lb. butter into the Bisquick.
    3. Add a bit of Cayenne pepper.
    4. 1 whole pound of extra sharp cheese.
    Everybody loves these.
