it's so easy to make, the only thing is I used all of the apples not just the cheeks, I used the sides of the apples for the cooked portion. I can't see wasting that much apple.

This recipe was AWESOME. It seemed a little scary at first but it was really simple. I loved the filling, I could have eaten the entire skillet contents. I will say, I used a store bought crust to save a little energy and it didn't reduce the satisfaction at all. What a great recipe!! THanks Amy!

After seeing Amy's show, I made this dessert. It was a huge hit - it disappeared. This is a traditional apple tart made easy and also looks very impressive. You must use Granny Smith apples for this recipe, as they hold their shape and don't turn to applesauce when cooking. With the added sugar they have the right amount of sweet/tart. The hint of vanilla in the apples is wonderful. I followed the recipe exactly and had perfect results. This is a keeper. Thanks Amy :

I would definitely make it again. To those who found the word "freaky" a bit silly: I'm sure if she gave it a French name, she would have been criticized for being a snob. Who cares what it's called? It's the taste that matters and this was really good. To the person who said the tart tasted like apple mash: I suspect you either used the wrong apples or cooked the filling too long before putting it in the pie shell. Mine had a very nice texture. Once again, I made EVERY recipe from a single episode. That's the second time it's happened with Amy. It's never happened with any other show - not Paula, not Rachel and not even my all-time fave, Emeril. I think Amy is very down-to-earth and accessible. She seems like someone I could easily be friends with. She's certainly not snobby - her background is in French cooking, so of course, that influence is going to be in her recipes. What's the big deal? I love her style. She makes me WANT to try new things.

Come on people, give the poor girl a break! Yeah, the tippy-toe thing is a bit weird, but....have you seen any early episodes of Emeril, Rachael, Giada.... They weren't who they are today in the beginning, either! And if Amy had called this recipe "Tarte Tanin" or some other oh-la-la title, you'd have been all over that, too.

I made this recipe with two minor modifications: I added a bit of cinnamon to the filling, and topped each serving with a drizzle of warm caramel sauce. Yummy!!!! My husband and I both ate two slices, and we're not big dessert people. I'll be making this again for my sister's Thanksgiving dinner! Thanks, Amy! You go, girl!!!

Are we rating the recipe or Amy?
I made the whole menu. My guests loved all of it; they especially loved the tart. It is important to use the right apples.

This is very basic. A very strange name for a recipe, "freaky"? Amy looks so uncomfortable on the screen, disorganized, constantly shifting from one thing to another and always standing on her tiptoes. Obviously the counter and stove is too high for her, give her something to stand on. She never presents all of her final dishes, that's freaky! I don't think Amy wanted this job, as she demonstrated on one of the series' shows. And as the judges said on the series, please, get on with something other than Paris!!!!!! I'm looking for the "Gourmet Next Door"!

It was delicious , absolutely. To the reviewer who said their tart tasted like mash: I suspect you chose the wrong apples. There is a no other reason for the review you gave this. The type of apple is important as some are for eating and some apples like granny smith and golden delicious are best for baking.

This recipe was less than "freaky good" to say the least. The pie tasted like a bunch of apple mash and the consistency of the apples was also unappetizing. My family threw it out after one bite.
