In the show she only used half of the banana so that is probably why everyone thinks the banana flavor is so strong

Not great. Just okay. No need for the cheese AT ALL!

I loved it! The hit of banana in the sweet potatoe was a perfect touch.

Delicious! My family loved it, and oh so healthy for you. I feel good about making this dish for my family. It is packed with fresh veggies, but tastes so yummy!

This was so great, with just a few adjustments...I used ground turkey sausage and it added so much flavor. I elmininated the banana and cheese (as others said and it was perfect that like...will definitely be making again!

My husband ate half of this casserole all by himself. I thought it was very good, but I did a little tweaking. I did not use bananas in the sweet potato mixture (sounds nasty and added a dash of nutmeg instead. I also added fresh chopped rosemary, sage, and thyme to the gravy which added a lot of flavor to the pie. I added a handful of frozen sweet corn also. I added the cheese as directed but, like others, saw no need for it. It didn't really add anything to the dish. Delicious recipe overall.

with some changes. I'm surprised at the good ratings on this dish. I thought the banana totally overwhelmed the dish; I could't taste anything else, and it was not pleasant. The sauce for the filling was too thin, and the filling needs a lot more seasoning. I agree with another reviewer that the cheese on top was not needed; just wasted calories. I scraped off the sweet potatoes, re-seasoned the filling and topped with garlic mashed Idaho potatoes and it was better.

Made this with mashed red potatoes (no need to even peel--it was delicious--nice change from traditional shepherd's pie

This recipe didn't explain what to do with the pan gravy. Will not use the banana. And, no one in my family likes sweet potato, so I used Idaho potatos. In stead of peas, I use corn.
