Finally good and real mashed potatoes that do not add garlic, sour cream, cream cheese and <the horror> Velveta! All the things Americans like to add to potatoes (and crab cakes, macaroni and cheese, etc. to make them "better" : Think about wine, it is not good because you added odd things; it is good as is.

Only get that consistency with heavy cream...so rich, but so worth it. Secret ...always smash potatoes before adding liquid, make sure liquid is hot.

This one piles on the calories but for an occassional treat it is fantastic! I've always made plan mashed potatos and this recipe blew those away! They turn out so creamy, the color is great and taste is the best. We normally have lots of left over potatos, this Thanksgiving we have almost none. I will definitely make these again. Thanks Robert for a great recipe!
