This is wonderful. The sauce alone is great. I served this on New Year Eve and my family loved it.

I adore the Barefoot Contessa, but this recipe failed to please. There is way too much salt specified in the recipe. Also, it is not a sensible use of lobster meat, which is delicate tasting and expensive. Far better, if you are going to buy lobster, to just eat it alone with a little butter; this recipe drowns out its flavor. I'm going to retry the recipe soon (despite my family asking me not to!, but this time cut way back on the salt and just use the halibut (or any other white fish and mini shrimp instead. Top marks, though for the gratin topping - delicious and original!

Originally thought this would be great for Christmas Eve, but didn't get the chance. The recipe's been calling my name ever since. Made this last night for my husband, and it truly is a winner. Albeit a bit decadent, it is delicious. Will definitely be a crowd pleaser for seafood lovers. The recipe is a bit involved, but not difficult. It's best if you organize all ingredients and dishes before you start the process. I used all frozen seafood, and it was great. Would have loved to try it with saffron, but didn't have any. Used paprika instead in the sauce, and I think it was still grand. Thanks, Ina, for a keeper!

I decided on this dish from Ina Garten, as it seemed decadent, rich, and appropriate for an in-house date night. Now, before you check out the list of ingredients below and get completely overwhelmed, please believe me when I say that this wasn’t much of a chore at all. Yes, there are quite a few ingredients, including saffron, but it comes together fairly easily, and I was able to sit down to dinner with a clean kitchen, as the ease allowed me to clean up as I went along with preparation.

Fabulous dish, true, it is very caloric. I added extra lobster and less fish. Served w/ rice dish, salad and roasted green beans to balance the richness. Received rave reviews from guests who are requesting another party, with the same menu. Thanks Ina

This dish was okay. I nor my family thought the carrots and leeks or the breadcrumbs worked well with the seafood. Although, the saffron sauce was amazing! I would much rather have a piece of grilled fish topped wih the saffron sauce. This was a waste. I regret investing in all the seafood and other ingredients, like the saffron, which costs $15 for a small bottle. I will not be making this again.
P.S. I am a 12 year old girl. No kidding.

I served this dish for Christmas Eve as well - I too am not very comfortable cooking seafood - but this was a great recipe. I love Ina.

This was excellent. I made it for Mother's Day dinner, and every one loved it. It will serve a lot of people and you can use whatever seafood you like. I used Shrimp and Scallops.
