Amazing! I can't believe how good this is for so little effort. My 4 year old grandson won't eat many healthy things, but he loves applesauce. I am so glad I found this recipe so I can make it fresh when he comes to visit. Love you Alton!

Fantastic! Quick and easy and delicious! The only thing I added was a little salt! I put the leftovers in the freezer.

I have never made homemade applesauce before, so turned to Alton for a recipe that wouldn't disappoint. I made this exactly how he directed and it was great. I'm sure the majority of the alcohol cooks off in the process, so not worried about little family members feeling the effects of the booze. The brandy added a wonderful flavor and aroma. The butter gives a great richness. The amount of honey was perfect, not too much sweetness and very subtle. Even my husband, who usually passes on applesauce, liked this one very much! We served it with homemade potato pancakes. I have a fairly powerful microwave and it took a little longer then 10 mins to get to mashing stage, but still, a very easy and quick side dish for any weeknight.

Loved this recipe! So easy and delicious : I used some Macoun and Suncrisp apples because that's what I had and it was great! I left it chunky for some texture and used some B&B instead of cognac/brandy since that's what was in the house. It's a perfect recipe to play around with and to mix your favorites. Thank you Alton!!

So good... left on the skins of the various red apples we used, then fished them out after mashing, and the applesauce is pink! My girls LOVE it!

Jumping on the band wagon here. GREAT and easy. Did the substitutes (vanilla for cognac and I used 2 Golden Delicious, 2 Fuji and 2 Wine Sap apples. It is so tasty, I don't think I will go back to store bought. Can't wait to play around with the recipe for different flavors.

Yum! Easy and delicious. Used the tip from "jaxbistro", and substituted vanilla for the alcohol. Great suggestion, thanks!

I have to agree with the rest...the stuff is fantastic! I made it for my young kids, ages 7, 5, and 2, and I ended up loving it too. I substitute about a tablespoon of vanilla instead of the alcohol to make it kid friendly. Very very simple to make too, but the apple dicing can be time consuming.

I was making this while trying to do other things and failed to read the entire recipe before beginning and realized you had to blend the mixture after cooking. After ten minutes of microwaving my apples were still a little yellow, so I continued to cook them and waiting for them to turn to "sauce". I probably microwaved about 18 minutes total (when I should have just used my hand blender after ten minutes However, I now have a completely smooth and delicious apple sauce. Moral of the story: read the recipe completely and make this applesauce. you can really screw it up and it still tastes wonderful
