Awesome recipe and very flexible. Can remove ingredients to make it kid friendly.

Works really well with pears and pear nectar too!

Super easy! Super Great! Used apple cider and some apples that we didn't really like. This is the only way to make apple sauce!

Fabulous recipe you can easily adapt to your own taste and what you have on hand. (I used less honey, more cinnamon and no alcohol. Scrumptious all by itself but also terrific accompaniment... stirred into steel-cut oatmeal for breakfast, dolloped on cinnamon ice cream for dessert.

It turns golden brown and is absolutely amazing. I know, it kinda' takes the "10 minutes" out of the whole deal but the sugars caramelize ever so slightly and it's very good.

I've made this recipe several times, albeit always on the stovetop over several hours. The butter adds wonderful richness to the aroma. The honey makes it almost too sweet.

I've made this recipe at least 50 times. It has become a family favorite. I've made it without the butter. I've left out the alcohol. I've reduced the amout of honey. I've tried other apples, I prefer the receipe exactly has stated. I buy a high quality apple brandy (insert some fancy french name here and use it just for this applesauce. Only down side, I can't pack those little applesauce cups in my kids lunch box. No other apple sauce will do for them.

Wow, this was so easy and so tasty. I did it with the kids, I left out the liquor, but maybe next time.

Tasty - but I agree - you couldn't taste the liquor (no kids in my household - and I used bourbon as one reviewer suggested (had it. I also had to microwave for an additional 2 minutes as I felt it was a little "soupy." No prob - or just cut down the apple cider next time. Before I put it in for the extra 2 minutes (and had done the initial tasting - I added an extra tablespoon of bourbon (next time I'll make it 1/2 tablespoon - but it was very still very tasty this way both orange and lemon zest...and oh by the way, I added dried cranberries from the very beginning to give it color. What is especially appealing about this recipe is the short amount of time it took to cook - and you come out with home made apple sauce. Nice.....oh...and (although I love you, Ina - when looking at Ina's recipe with 1/2 cup packed brown sugar...I thought Alton's was more appealing. It's sweet enough as it is.

I will never again buy apple sauce. This recipe was so easy to make and it is wonderful. I tried it with different types of apples and each time it was great. The hubs said it was the best apple sauce he has ever eaten and I have to agree with him. This recipe is a keeper.
