I love this recipe! The original recipe is great as written, but it's remarkably versatile as well (so it works with whatever you happen to have in your pantry. I've had success using different types of fruit juice & different types of alcohol. My favorite variation is to use palm sugar in place of honey and replace about 3 tbs of the apple cider with lemon juice.

like others, I have changed this up a couple of different ways, and it is always fantastic. This time I eliminated the alcohol and used pomegranite juice because I had no apple juice. really fantastic!

I can't believe I've been buying applesauce for all these years. This is so easy and my kids loved it (3, 4 and 6. I left out the alcohol and honey (didn't have any completely, substituted about 1 Tbsp brown sugar and used Jonagold apples only. In a little over 10 minutes I had hot, fresh delicious apple sauce.

This recipe, like all of AB's is great.
Some of my mod's were not using the alcohol, like others I reduced the honey to 1TBS, I added a handfull of golden raisins and half that of chopped dried cranberries. I actually forgot the butter, and it still tasted great. I served it with the roast pork for Christmas dinner, and everybody loved it. I used Golden delicious and Fuji's like the recipe called for, but the Fuji's took twice as long to cook. Next time I'll start the denser apples first.
Like the man says, It's all good eats.
Now if we can get rid of all the pop-ups on the web site, we'd be doing that much better. It's so frustrating waiting for the commercials to run, the pages take forever to load.

This recipe takes no time at all and it's really delicious. It's definitely on the sweet side - a little bit like apple pie filling. My kids love it.

I made two versions on this recipe. The first I used Empire and Jonathon apples (and I think I only use 2TB of honey and I omitted the alcohol because it was for my son and nephew. They gobbled up the whole batch by themselves and they were only 1 1/2 and 2 years old!
The second batch I made was with Winesap and Empire apples, 1TB of honey and spiced brandy, I took it over my mom's for dinner and there was not any leftovers!
I will never by store apple sauce ever again. This recipe is easy to play with, I think I might add some berries to the next batch I make and see how it turns out.

It's hard to believe that something this good can be this easy. I followed the recipe except that I used only 1 tbls of brandy. Unbeatable.

I took a chance to see if the kids would eat hot apple sauce (my first too. Wow, I was surprised for two reasons: (1 it was fantastic and (2 the kids loved it ages 6, 10, and 13 !
It was also quick, easy, and healthy!

This recipe is absolutely too sweet! The 3 T. of honey just overpowers the apples and makes it taste like you are eating apple pie filling instead of applesauce. I will definitely make it again but without the added honey. The recipe gets 4 stars from me because it is SO easy to make and the consistency and freshness can't be beat!
