These were exactly what I was looking for. Crispy on the outside, chewy inside. I don't like raisins and the cranberries were perfect. I used extra-thick organic rolled oats, organic sugars, and pasture butter. The thick oats really make a difference with the texture. I also doubled the vanilla and added cloves.
I'm in the middle of my second batch. I adjusted the spices on these and changed these into chocolate chip pecan cookies. The texture is just too good not to experiment with.

These are good but nothing special- definitely lacking a wow factor. Maybe they could have benefited from chocolate chips (or white chocolate chips and some nuts. Just a rather basic, OK oatmeal cookie. I doubt I'll make them again.

The dough was a really good consistency, and the in the mixing, I thought the cookies were sure to turn out really well, but they were really unappealing.
I think there was a little too much nutmeg in the recipe, because it overpowers everything, including the hint of vanilla and cinnamon. I also did not like the whole cranberry addition. I'm not saying the recipe should never have included cranberries, I'm saying I just don't prefer them. I think I'd rather stick to raisins in oatmeal cookies. They came out a nice color and I was really excited to eat them, but the flavor was just really bad to me. I hate to insult anything but they just made me feel sick. It was like a smell that makes you sick when you're pregnant. I added some walnuts and a little coconut, and kind of combined this recipe with another, and maybe the flavor of the coconut mixing is what made a bad taste. I basically gave it two stars because I feel like the nutmeg should maybe not have been used.

I really love the taste of these cookies!!! Now that I bought the most expensive ingredient (cardamom I might as well make these over and over. I've even frozen some cookie mix and it turns out great later. For some reason it always takes my cookies 15-17 minutes. If I take them out at 10 and let them cool will they come out chewier?

Everytime I make these, they are gone in five minutes. The cookies are the perfect amout of sweetness and oats. I like my cookies to be slightly moist and chewy in the center, so i bake them for 12 minutes. I've made them for christmas as gifts and were very well-liked by co-workers. i definetly recommend these.

We are crunchy cookie lovers so we added a few more minutes on the bake time and POW - what a great cookie. Like so many others have mentioned, the Cardamon is VERY expensive - at Albertsons, it ran $12.99 (without tax for the standard sized bottle. There weren't any smaller versions. I believe it is one of the most expensive spices out there besides Saffron. Anyway, it did prove to be good but now I have a whole bunch of the Cardamon to use up - any recipe suggestions?

I looked at basic recipe, which sounded great but I like to review comments. Since I had left over walnuts and white chocolate chips from another recipe I tried Ramonas (Pheonix, AZ suggestions and they were awesome! Brought some to work and they keep asking for more. Making more this weekend to surprise the eletrical crew at work.
p.s. Ramona-flag your comment, hoping it was a good thing

Cardamon IS relatively expensive compared to other spices, but I found a good bargain at a Stop & Shop. Great cookie recipe!!

This was such a good cookie! Cardamom is a must need in this recipe. It is very expensive just to worn you, but my mother in law informed me that it would be inexpensive in an Asian supermarket. This spice makes the recipe and is irreplaceable! Next time, I will be cutting out about 1/4 of a cup of sugar, because it was too sweet for my family.

The spices in this cookie just pop in your mouth! I was eating them right out of the oven and could not get over how moist, chewy and flavorful these cookies are. I did not have cardamon, so I ground coriander seeds and the flavor is awesome! I'll make these again and get the cardamon and try it next time I make these. I can't wait to share these with my co-workers!
