The WWE meets James Beard in this Japanese-language cooking contest TV show. Each week, the reigning Iron Chef and his challenger learn the "secret ingredient" and then face off in the ultimate cooking contest, while a guest panel determines who is victorious and who is vanquished. Learn about some of the show's key players. Takeshi Kaga Takeshi Kaga plays the ultimate foodie in Iron Chef. Takeshi Kaga is the show's host and is portrayed as a wealthy and eccentric gourmet who lives in his castle with a small army of fine chefs that he has battle each other. Chef Morimoto Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto trained in a sushi restaurant before moving to the United States in 1985, where he joined the highly acclaimed Nobu restaurant in New York City and eventually became a state-of-the-art world chef. His cutting-edge cuisine attracted the attention of Iron Chef producers, who invited him to become a Japanese Iron Chef. His unique fusion cuisine takes advantage of Japanese color combinations and aromas and uses Chinese spices and simple Italian ingredients, while maintaining a refined French style of presentation. Iron Chef America Based upon the format of the Japanese show, Iron Chef America carries on the legend of Kitchen Stadium and the famed "secret ingredient." Each week, world-class chefs battle the legendary Iron Chefs of America: Bobby Flay, Mario Batali, Cat Cora and Masaharu Morimoto, while Alton Brown serves as the commentator.
