Today there are about as many different kitchen gadgets as there are cooks to use them, so we thought we'd highlight some of the most useful kitchen tools that make cooking a breeze.
Peppermill
Freshly cracked pepper is always better than pre-ground pepper, so no kitchen should be without a peppermill. Peppermills come in every style, shape and size, and once you start using yours, we're sure you'll be able to taste the difference in your food.
Pasta Pot
Despite the low-carb diet craze, we're all still crazy about our pasta. And having a great pasta pot can make the simple task of preparing pasta even simpler. The trick to a good pasta pot is that it allows you to cook the pasta in a strainer that fits inside the pot, making draining the water a snap.
Garlic Press
Garlic goes well in just about any dish you prepare, but if your recipe calls for crushed garlic, you need a garlic press to do the job right. A garlic press allows you to place one or two cloves within the garlic press and extract all the flavor and juices from the cloves, leaving the skin behind.
Food Slicer
Depending on what type of food slicer you use, the recipe prep time can be cut to as much as half. A vegetable mandolin, for example, allows you to slice, julienne and dice vegetables with ease. A larger meat slicer allows you to slice roast beef, ham and turkey in a snap.
Cooking Thermometer
Finally, you simply shouldn't cook without a cooking thermometer these days. To prevent food-borne illnesses, all meats and poultry must be cooked to proper temperatures and without a cooking thermometer, youll never know if your foods actually reach those safe temps.
