Toasting nuts gives your dishes a deeper roasted flavor and the best way to do this is in the oven.

Step 1: Prep
Spread the nuts in an even layer on a baking sheet. There’s no need to use oil, as the nuts have their own.

Step 2: Temp and Time
Roast at 350 degrees F for 8-12 minutes.

Step 3: Halfway Point
Give them a shake halfway through so they don’t burn. When you can smell them, they’re done.

Step 4: Take off the Heat
Whatever nuts you’re toasting, get them to a plate right away to cool down.

Step 5: Peeling Shortcut
Toasting also makes it easier to peel nuts, like hazelnuts. Use a kitchen towel and rub; the skin will fall right off. Don’t worry about removing every bit.

Step 6: Enjoy!
Toasting nuts will give salads a crunch or make ice cream even more memorable. Watch our how-to video for more.
