Many recipes call for separated eggs. Whether you're using the whites or yolks, here are two good food-safe ways to get the job done.

First Method: Egg Separator

You can purchase an egg separator from any housewares store.

How to Use an Egg Separator

Place the egg separator over a bowl and crack an egg into it. Note: This is safer than using a shell to separate.

Instant Separation

Watch the white fall down and the yolk stay up.

Tip

Store leftover whites or yolks separately in the refrigerator.

Second Method: Spoon

This is the other food-safe way to separate an egg.
