El Gallito's tortas ahogadas are not only fast but also one of Marcela Valladolid's favorite street-food dishes. A "tortas ahogadas" roughly translates to drowned sandwich, the drowning courtesy of two spicy sauces covering a hefty sandwich of tender pork. Be careful -- this food will get messy.

This food truck was wonderful! The woman who runs it was very friendly and very very proud of her place. It was easy to find and open on a Sunday WITH seating outside.
We had the torta ahogada and the torta gemma. They were wonderful. The bread was crusty enough to stand up to being drenched in sauce, so you can eat it with your hands, but the inside of the bread combined with the sauce and the frijoles to make a creamy kind of texture that was just wonderful. The pork was tender and tasty and didn't get lost in the seasoning of the salsa. These sandwiches did not disappoint! Delicious!
We aren't sure what the hours are, so we're just going to have to go back and find out...
