Saw article on DDD expected authentic Mexican food. While the restaurant was authentic south of the border "dive" the food was less than impressive. Sad to day, the best item was the chips! The red salsa taste like a mix of Tabasco and can chile, the green salsa was more authentic and the taste ok until I found a soggy chip in the bowl. Its obvious they recycle the unused salsa. As to the food, the tamales were undercooked, and tasted strange. The masa was unseasoned and without flavor. The chile relleno was marginal but the chile sauce did not pair well with the chile and egg. The sope and tostada were nothing special. The shredded beef as actually chunks in a sour red sauce. The sope was fried in old oil and burnt. Being disappointed we looked for good so we tried the ice creme. The pecan ice creme is watered down milk frozen, shaved with flavoring. All in all don't know what Guy was thinking when he recommended this place.
