This place was just awful. I don't know how people get away cooking on best behavior on TV, then when the show is over put out pizza equivalent to Papa Johns or Domino's

It's a nice joint if you have the munchies before going to bed. True it's not the most sophisticated place you could take your date but if you want something else than the usual pizza parlor and try creamy ricotta cheese or artichoke heart, why not? And there are other things beside pizza there, so just check it out at least once and decide for yourself.
P.S. And the one on El Cajon Blvd is right next to Eclipse Chocolate so you can't be disappointed!

A friend took me here after seeing Pizzeria Luigi featured on DD&D. As soon as I walked in the door I almost walked straight out. The pizzas were sitting out in a display that was doubling as a home to numerous flies, who were happily consuming and defecating on the food. One pizza that caught my eye was the Frenchie- honey ham, fresh pear, bleu cheese, and caramelized onions. I chose a slice of the Frenchie and a slice of the Leonardo (mozzarella, parmesan, pesto, not sure whether I'd be able to stomach eating reheated pizza covered in flies. Even after a few minutes of reheating in the oven, both of my slices were lukewarm at best. The cheese was rubbery and bland and the crust was flat and overcooked. I almost fell asleep eating the Leonardo because it was so terribly boring. The Frenchie wasn't much better- the pears were undercooked, the onions were mostly burnt, and I'm not entirely sure where the bleu cheese or honey ham was supposed to be. Don't waste your $5.
