Besides baking the Swedish cookies and coffee cakes, Swedish Bakery also bakes dozens of European and American culinary confections, including Ted Allen's favorite nutty treat: marzipan. Specifically, he loves the little green frog cakes filled with raspberry buttercream and covered in marzipan.

    I grew up by the Swedish Bakery. For special birthdays we'd get the layer cake with strawberries and whipped cream covered in marzipan; fabulous! They also make the best palmiers I've ever tasted, I always said they looked more like butterflies than palm leaves, which is what they called them. Now they're listed both ways. Best coffee cakes too.
