I too was disappointed in the food. Biscuits were good and the Chicken Fried Chicken was very tasty, but was expecting milk gravy for potatoes and got some gelatin looking, odd tasting gravy, I was thankful they had it on the side and did not ruin my potatoes. Green beans were unique, did not care for greasy taste. Some of our group ordered the doughnut balls and they were a surprise taste. Tasted good but had a kick to them later. Did not realize they had Jalepeno peppers in them.. Some of the group I was with got the Mac & Cheese and some liked it some did not. Not sure how it made it on TV show other than the fact of being on old Route 66 back in the day..

The Mac & Cheese is AMAZING!!!! I loved the Dell Rhea's Chicken wings too. I also couldn't resist the fried blueberry pie. I was so full I almost fell asleep on the way home!!! I will definitely be back.

We really enjoyed the food here. My husband ordered the chicken basket and enjoyed it thoroughly--I thought the fried chicken was a touch bland, but the mashed potatoes and gravy were the best I've had in my life. I had the mac & chz which I thought was wonderful, creamy and comforting.

I had an opportunity to experience Dell Rheas while visiting Chicago and I'm so sad to say what a disappoint the food was. First of all let me start with the good parts... Our waitress was extremely nice. The dining room was pretty empty, only about 4 tables, all waiting to get the chicken which takes 30 minutes to cook, and she handled us all pretty well. The gumbo was very good. I had a cup as an appetizer while waiting on the chicken basket and mac & cheese. Ok, the negatives, the homemade biscuits were very hard, tough and barely warm. The chicken, lacked seasoning and wasn't traditional fried chicken. It was encrusted with a cornmeal base. The mac & cheese...although piping hot was under cooked. It was like they had par cooked some elbow macaroni mixed it with a homemade white sauce and covered it with cheese and browned it in the broiler. No seasoning, no flavor. This is the 2nd DDD's restaurant recommendation I've tried and the 2nd failure. Sorry Guy but strike three...
