My family visited Geraci's the first week it opened, I was six years old at the time. We ordered two pizzas, one with mushrooms and one with anchovies. To this day, those two toppings are my favorites and all pizzas are automatically compared to my Geraci's memories. We were regular, weekly customers until we moved from Cleveland in the late sixties. Since then, I've lived in a dozen cities and three countries -- still comparing pizzas to my favorite first. In 2007 my husband and I were in Cleveland for a few days and before checking into our hotel we stopped at Geraci's for his first taste of Geraci's pizza and their amazing meatballs. Not only did he agree with me about Geraci's being the best, we dined in two more times and had a pie for the road. We've been back to Cleveland nearly a dozen times since then and never fail to make Geraci's a part of our agenda. If you go, try the antipasto, pizza and meatballs. We always leave happy and full with a doggie bag for later.

After watching this air on TV last night I thought it would be fun to try someplace new so ww drove 50 miles to Geraci's. We waited inside the door for several minutes and not one person greeted us. Several employees made eye contact with us then looked away. The restaurant wasn't that busy. I finally asked if we needed to wait to be seated and was told yes please. So we waited. Finally someone seated us. The food was disappointing. Our bill came to $57.71 for a bland pepperoni pizza, two tiny salads, two hot peppers with a tiny amount of sausage, a nothing special pasta dish with 2 meatballs (that we had to order on the side and water to drink. Should have gone to Little Italy or just stayed close to home and had pizza at Luigi's.

Geraci’s must have had an insider on DDD. Make sure you have cash. They don’t accept cards. Read the menu. Basil is a “Specialty Item” for $1.50 extra. Don’t go there thinking expecting dishes you might in Cleveland’s Little Italy. Geraci’s is your Grand Father’s Italian Restaurant. Opened in 1956, it is a time warp – to 1956. Now, the gory details. We had 2 small pizzas, one pepperoni, one chicken garlic with bacon and basil, 1 cup minestrone soup, 1 spaghetti and meatballs, white sesame bread, and a cute little salad, small lemonade. Our little lunch with tip was just shy of a one crisp Benjamin. That’s Fifty Bucks for you non-hipsters. The pepperoni might have been good, but there were so few slices. The meatballs were soaked in watered-down marinara. I can see Paul Newman rolling over in his grave. The minestrone was a cut below Campbells. Maybe it was Campbells. So is Geraci’s a Diner, Drive-in, or Dive ? How about RIPPOFF.

Totally overrated and extremely overpriced! I received a $50.00 gift card for X-mas was totally excited to go there after seeing it on Triple D. Not to mention my friends raved that this place was the bomb! NOT! Service was stale. In other words, not really friendly or attentive. Just kind of indifferent. The Pizza was tasteless! We had a sausage, mushroom & banana pepper pie and nothing had flavor. Moreover after just a few beers, a glass of wine and some antipasto our ticket was over $60.00 bucks. Really! $60.00 for pizza?!? This place blows! Won't be back!

Stopped in for the Pizza, as seen on DDD...was really looking forward to the super thick pieces of pepperoni that Guy had on his pizza...but we were a little disappointed, it was thicker than most pizza's we've ate, but the meat wasn't as thick as it was on the show...the food was good, service was good and the best part...the prices were great! Really surprised the cost wasn't higher with the place being on TV and in the University Hts. area.
