Friendly place, staff was great. Wife had open face turkey: she ate the whole thing, loved the cranberry chutney. Potato salad was perfect, just a little spice, good crunch, not overwhelming.
Green beans were bland. Baked beans were smoky, almost too much, and not sweet, which I liked.
Slaw was creamy, chunky, and just a touch of spice, an ideal companion to the brisket and the sausage, which was a home run. I don't know much about bbq, but I am going back tomorrow. Oh yeah, the sauces are good, and needed, meat is dry and smoky, and I loved it.

Amazing Burnt Ends Sandwich. My husband and I both ordered one... then went back to the counter and order a pint to take home. Totally worth getting lost trying to find the place. : Will be going back the next time we're in VA Beach.

My husband and I went to Whitner's BBQ, I had the special pulled pork sandwich and my husband had burned tips something both were so delicious. I also ordered 2 bone BBQ, my god the meat was so tender and juicy with the crunch on top , perfect very very very tasty. Their sauces and side dishes were so good too. I certainly will go back. 

This place is tasty and cheap! BBQ is great (tasty sauces, but if you have only one thing, it should be the Mr. Whitner's Smoked Turkey Sandwich. The cranberry chutney, spicy mayo, and cornbread croutons pull this sandwich together! The turkey slices are thick and moist. If I lived in VA Beach I would get that sandwich once a week. They don't serve beer which is a shame because it would go perfectly with the food.
