Oyster Show

Episode PA1B20

Paula goes to the shores of South Carolina, in a quest for oysters. On a boat she goes to catch an oyster dinner and makes a tasty Oyster Bisque.

Oyster Bisque

  • Paula recommends keeping the bottle of sherry off to the side when you serve your Oyster Bisque; not everyone wants the same amount of sherry in their soup.

Char Grilled and Scalloped Oysters

  • You must keep close watch on your grilling oysters or they'll come out too dry and small if left to grill too long.

Lemon Meringue Pie

  • Always make sure that you check every egg you use very carefully in this recipe for cracks or defects, since you don't bake, but refrigerate this pie. You don't want to get any kind of food poisoning.

Paula's Tips
Paula offers a different sauce to make for your Oysters, called a Mignonette sauce. Combine shallots or purple onion with red wine vinegar and a lot of fresh, cracked black pepper to create an Oyster sauce that's virtually calorie free.
