So Close

Mary Beth Albright, a food writer from Washington, D.C., made it to New York and stayed strong until the final four. In the second-to-last episode of the season, the Iron Chef battle sent her home.

Hanging Out

Rivals

Mary Beth and Penny often butted heads — and somehow always seemed to be paired together for challenges.

Shopping Success

"If there's one thing that unites all women, it is shopping," says Mary Beth. She and Penny finally saw eye-to-eye when they shopped at Target together for the Wolfgang Puck dinner party.

Making Peace

In this photo from the Star House, the two seem buddy-buddy. Penny exited the competition with these parting words: "I'm leaving the drama to you, Mary Beth."

Going to New York

After Penny and Chris were sent home, someone snapped this shot of Mary Beth among the final six before they departed the Star house for New York.

Heat of Battle

As a food writer, Mary Beth knew she could kill the commentary portion of the Iron Chef battle. Her cooking chops just weren't enough for Kitchen Stadium.
