About Serena Ball, M.S., R.D.

Serena has been a contributing writer and a recipe developer for FoodNetwork.com for a decade. She shares science-based nutrition information on food trends, gut health and brain health.

Experience: Based out of St. Louis, Serena is a registered dietitian, food writer, culinary instructor, and co-author of the best-selling The 30-Minute Mediterranean Diet Cookbook, Easy Everyday Mediterranean Diet Cookbook, The Sustainable Mediterranean Diet Cookbook, and The Smart Mediterranean Diet Cookbook. Serena created and co-authored the Healthy Kitchen Hacks column in the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (AND) Food & Nutrition Magazine. Her work also appears in many other national publications including Parade magazine and CookingLight.com. Serena blogs at TeaspoonOfSpice.com and cooks up healthy recipes for regular TV appearances and her cooking classes. She produces bi-weekly virtual Healthy Kitchen Hacks classes on the Teaspoon of Spice Facebook page. She is happiest in her bright Mediterranean-blue kitchen cooking for her husband and five children.

Education: Serena graduated from Tufts University with an MS in nutrition communications and earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics from Concordia College. She is the recipient of the AND Social Media Excellence Award.
