What do you do on a daily basis?
My day typically bookends with researching, cooking, tasting, enjoying, evaluating and talking about food. Squashed in the middle, I navigate the world of nutrition by reading current studies and news, blog for Healthy Eats, running nutritional analysis and answering questions from co-workers. It's a total immresion in all things food from beginning to end, and it's awesome.

Who is your culinary icon?
My Aunt Linda (her kitchen is calm and loving and always smells amazing).

Who is your favorite food TV personality, past or present?
Alton Brown

What's your favorite cookbook?
Ottolenghi Plenty (for the pictures and inspiration)

What dish or ingredient will we never catch you eating?
Anything with goat meat (goats are too cute)

What's your favorite condiment?
Hot sauce

What's the first dish you learned to make?
Tuna noodle casserole (under supervision)

Sweet tooth, salty tooth or both?
Love to balance both

What kitchen tool can't you live without?
A well-seasoned cast-iron pan

What music do you like to listen to in the kitchen?
Classic (but mostly NPR)

What's your favorite food scene from a movie?
Watching an apple pie made from scratch and then eaten entirely by two women with giant spoons in the movie Sweet Land

What's your favorite alcoholic beverage?
Gin and tonic with extra lime

If you weren't in food, what career would you have liked to have tried?
Probably linguistics

What's your favorite "food city" to visit?
Charleston (surrounding areas for mustard barbecue, in town for classics and exciting new Southern dishes)
