1 loaf French bread
2 sticks butter, softened
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
Cut the French bread in half lengthways. Spread each half with 1 stick of the butter, covering every bit of the surface area.
Put on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes to allow the butter to seep into the bread. Turn on the broiler and broil for 5 minutes or less, watching the whole time. You want the butter to begin to get very brown, but not black.
