I made this last night and it was terrible. We each ate portions of a slice and threw the rest out. The meatloaf was extremely dense, a little greasy, bland, and even unattractive on the plate. The only "taste" came from the fresh herbs which were over-powering. The gravy didn't redeem the dish. Ina missed the mark with this recipe.

I made this without any changes, quality meat and fresh herbs and it was a flop. My family reluctantly ate one slice and we threw the rest away. It looked good when they were making it on
TV but I would recommend you stay clear of this. I found the meatloaf somewhat greasy which I believe is compounded by the fact that the Panko breadcrumbs absorb the fat from the meat. My normal meatloaf is much better with normal breadcrumbs and grated parmesean, etc.... You should note, some of the reviews here are posted by those who have not even made this meatloaf....they are anticipating it to be good based on watching the show..

Outstanding Nice mix of herbs and meat ,House smelled of the Garlic roasting and the meat and herbs melting together .The loaf was done just right and the gravy just added the right punch .Marry it with smashed potatoes and fresh steamed carrots .A meal fit for friends to gather around . Will make this for the guys in the firehouse

This meatloaf and sauce were excellent. I used beef, pork, and lamb, otherwise didn't change a thing. I do have one complaint though: there are no instructions on roasting the garlic, so when I got to making the sauce, I had no garlic ready. I had to put everything on hold while I threw some garlic in the oven to roast. I remembered on the show they mentioned doing it in a pan but I couldn't find a recipe like that.

So good recipe, but it should have included instructions on roasting the garlic.

I made this and thought it came out delicious! I though the sauce was pretty thin too but it still tasted great! I will definitely make this again.

My Superbowl Dinner! The Meatloaf came out beautiful with almost a creamy texture thanks to the panko, milk and eggs. When Ina and Kevin did the segment they showed him roasting the garlic to add to the sauce. In the recipe they simply tell you to add roasted garlic. I looked up a quick method which involved heating the 8-10 cloves in a non-stick pan on the range. Medium high heat turning frequently for several minutes. The sauce as written did not thicken. It didn't look anything like they showed in the segment and I had to add some cornstarch (approx 1 tbsp to get the desired consitency. The flavor was great. I would definately make this again and look forward to the sandwiches!
