Very tasty and simple as, well, apple pie! Baked it for the first time for our book club and everyone loved it! Topped it off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. As suggested by others, I doubled the portion for the topping and it was perfect! Have already shared the recipe with two friends who asked for it. Will definitely make again. Thank you!

Excellent recipe for a last-minute dessert for a party. Everyone loved it! I didn't have a lemon, so I used half of an orange for juice. I didn't have many apples, so I added pears to the mix and they brought a subtle but tasty variation to the mix.

OMG! This recipe was so easy and delicious. I followed some of the other reviews that recommended doubling the topping and that was great advice! It really made the crisp "crispier"! I think next time I will put crisp on the bottom and top and possibly try blueberries like Diamondgirl920 suggested. Thank you!

I didn't have lemon juice so I used orange juice and substituted crushed cinnamon graham crackers - rave reviews. I, too, doubled the topping.

I thought it was good. My friend who came over for dinner the night I made this REALLY liked it. I accidentally MELTED the butter first instead of rubbing the half stick of butter into the mixture with my fingertips! So for the topping, I ended up with a pasty glop instead of crumbles.
It ended up not being enough to cover all the apples so I doubled the amount of topping. Then it came out tasting pretty good. Tasted sort of like a lazy mans apple pie... !

I am gluten free. What can I use as a substitue for the graham cracker crumbs? Will old fashioned oat meal work ok? Also, how do I delete recipes from my recipe box? I have not as yet tried this recipe but sounds good and I want to try it as soon as my questions are answered. Thanks.
