...but our po-dunk grocery store doesn't carry ground lamb. It was kind of bland. It made a mess to cook, it wasn't as easy as she makes it look. It tasted ok, but not my husband's favorite. I'll eat anything.

I really felt like I was in Greece! Needed some Ouzo to go with it! Thank you so much Rachel. I absolutely loved this recipe. . .

I made this for the first time, using ground sirloin instead of lamb. It got rave reviews. My husband said it is the best leftovers he has ever had, it gets better with aging. Tip go light on the cinnamon if your not a fan and have each person add their own amount of cheese and gremolata.

I rated this recipe a 4 only because I think there is too much going on in this recipe. Rachael has a tendency to try to get everything possible into a dish, and for the most part, she is successful with this one. However, there is some overkill. The gremolata was unnecessary, as was the spinach. I loved the eggplant and the spices, and the feta cheese was a nice touch. It had a nice flavor and texture. I used ground turkey and don't think I missed anything by not using lamb, which I find to be too strong sometimes. I would make this again, next time eliminating the gremolata and the spinach. I will say, however, that my husband loved it and it will go into my recipe box on this site.

My husband and I loved this recipe! It was quick and easy to make and was delish! I bought sirloin steak and had it ground. The hint of cinnamon was very nice and the olive/parsley topping combined with the feta was wonderful. Complex, interesting flavors. This is definitely a keeper!

We loved this dish! I only used about half the feta, and due to the fact that I am the only one in the house that likes Kalamata olives, I didn't make the Gremolata. I just served whole olives and squeezed lemon over the meat. It was wonderful. They were fighting over the leftovers this morning to take for their lunches!!

I made this last night and all I can say is "yuck". There wasn't enough seasoning in the dish to hold up to the strength of the feta and after adding the gremolata I was even less impressed. No leftovers here - it went straight into my GC (garbage can as did the recipe.

I made this dish because it looked interesting, easy and good. It was definitely all 3! I made the dish with ground lamb (I cut back on the amount of meat to vegetablesand found the flavor was a bit strong for my taste. The next time I make it I will try a meatloaf mix (ground beef, pork & veal or as another reviewer did, ground chicken. The greek gremolata and feta cheese absolutely make this dish - I would suggest not skipping it unless you can't stomach kalamata olives and/or feta cheese!

I made this for a super bowl party and it was a hit. I used ground turkey for dietary purpose and although the flavor probably wasn't as fantastic as Rachel's it was still fabulous. I also served it with Red Grapes on the side which was a terrific balance to the savory meal!
