Tasty and easy to make. Probably could have gotten away with a pound and a half of meat. We thought the gravy with the fries sounded weird but it was really good!

The spices were great. However, the spinach and feta made the meat very crumbly. Did not like that. Next time I will use Rachel's recipe (minus feta and spinach and Alton Brown's preparation method

This is my go to Greek dinner meal! I usually make it into 2 loaves side by side because not everyone likes medium rare lamb like me! : Everyone loves it! Even my boyfriend who is Greek!

We loved this recipe, I cooked on our charcoal grill with wood chips and the taste was terrific. Love that you can substiute other meats, I used !/2 beef and 1/2 lamb.

I'm not usually a fan of Rachael's recipes, but this one is actually pretty good. I use ground turkey (dark meat to make this. The combination of spices are what make it work and taste authentic. The meat comes out juicy if you cook it to the proper temperature.

When we first saved this recipe to our recipe box it had, pork, veal, and beef in it. Now the recipe only calls for ground lamb. Why the change, and can we please get the original back. We have made it regularly the past year or more and always depended on it being safe in our recipe box. Anyone out there have the original recipe - help!!

I've tried and tried to emulate that donar kabab taste I used to get from streetside vendors in London and this is the closest and so so easy to make. Forget about the fries and gravy just half the pita and stuff it all inside.

I love Gyros and often crave them during the week. I feel like they can be a little greasy when I get them from the local greek restaurant. Looking to make my own, keep it healthy, and save money, I decided to try this recipe. I am so glad that I did. Now when I crave the gyros, I make them instead of ordering them. I am glad that others had success with different proteins other than the lamb, our market was out, so I am trying it with some lean beef. There were some changes I would make after trying this recipe for the first time and I will incorporate those changes this time and I am sure the results will be fantastic. I will add some salt to the meat. The feta alone was not enought salt to properly season the meat. I used a grill seasoning that did not contain salt. I will also hand squeeze the lemon. I used a juicer and teh yogurt sauce was quite tart. I simply added another container of yogurt and it was perfect. Other than that I will not change anything.

I NEVER fill out any reviews, but this recipe is excellent so I had to tell other people to try it, I replaced the lamb wt chicken and it still turned out very tasty and another easy but unique way of cooking chicken. Has become such a staple in my house, that I mixed all the dry seasoning in a small bottle, that way I dont have to pull out individual ingredients- I have also added some ground cloves and ground pomegrenate in the mix and it gives it a little extra kick!!
