Its a little grainy. It is easy and it had its moment you know the first few bites were ok but then it just tasted like i was eating sand. I probably should have mixed it more.

I was very enthused about trying this recipe - a unique variation on traditional hummus. However, it tasted awful. Very disappointing.

I made this for Thanksgiving 2006. Compared to my Mom's recipe for hummus, it was so-so. If you have never had hummus before, and this was the first you tried, it would not leave you with a good opinion of hummus.

Ok--this was an exciting take on the tradtional hummus-it is a mix between a bean-dip and a chick-pea spread. Yes, it is not traditional hummus. But is that not what we Food Network-ers are all about? Sure, I can find the same-old, same-old idea anywhere. But the whole point of this channel, this site, is doing things with new and creative, innnovative twists to compliment the everyday cook (with a hint of the gourmand. BOOOOO to you hummus semantics slaves, and BRAVOO to those of you who tried this out-although, I am sure, the bravo came more from your dinner quests than from me. Vive la change!

First off I will start by stating that I haven't tried the dish. It may very well taste wonderful, however I give it a two for the simple fact that there is no such thing as "black bean hummus" hummus is a dish specificallt made with chick peas. It's like if I were to make spinach dip, but instead of using spinach, I used collard greens. I love how people act so amazed with it "even my friends who don't like hummus liked it" well duh, you completely changed the main ingedient/flavour. At best this is an interesting blakc bean dip.

the word hummus actually refers to the garbanzo beans. So any recipe without them is NOT hummus. black bean hummus? without chickpeas there is no such thing.

I made this dish for the first time for some friends. They all loved it. I served it with pretzels, bread sticks, and fresh veggies. It was also good with falafel.

You won't believe how delicious this recipe is. I have made it several times and even people that don't care for hummus love it - it's not gritty at all. The worst part is finding the tahini in the grocery (not Tehina.
It's now part of my signature dishes!

After having white bean hummus at a local pub, I thought I would try the black bean hummus because that is what I had in the cupboards. This is just great!, did not change a thing and it turned out wonderful.....................Great!
