    When you're dealing with dough you can't omit any ingredients. Otherwise you'll alter he texture. Keep the oil in (a splash won't kill you and these will be great! And if you want a sauce, search food network for one!

    Maybe it was because I didn't put the oil in the batter, but they were very thick and a little chewy. I tried some of them with syrup and some of them with lemon curd, but they just weren't anything special. I wish this recipe came with a sauce of some sort that would go well with it...maybe I will eat the left over ones with a blueberry sauce? Anyways, I don't think I will make these again.
