Ingredients

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Mix sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, flour, and nutmeg. Place 1 of the piecrusts into a 9-inch pie plate. Place the apple mixture into the piecrust and cover with a crust top. Add butter into apples, if desired. Combine the egg and water and beat to make an egg glaze. Brush the top crust with the egg glaze for a nice glossy appearance. Bake in the oven for 50 to 55 minutes. Make sure to place pie on a tray to prevent juices from spilling into the oven.

Test pie with a sharp knife to feel if apples are tender enough for your taste. If necessary cook pie for 5 minutes more and test again. Repeat process if desired.

Cool and serve with ice cream or any of your favorite toppings.

When I saw this on $40.a Day,I swooned.Vermont is full of the Best Recipes as every State is as well.I like to make smaller "Hand Pies" with a stamper for Dough.Great for Those whom live alone or just a Couple.Simple? Yes.Scrumptious?Absolutely.Try before You cry Foul! Cinnamon DOES Get Hotter with the More Used In Recipes.Plus,There Are Two Types. Ceylon & Vietmanese.Just Use The Amount Of Cinnamon You Feel Tastes Good To You.We Always Prepare A "Test" Of a Recipe Prior To Entire Mixture. This Helps In ALL Catagories.

wonderful! I USE A LOT LESS CINNAMON. Just a few shakes. I have also made it with blueberries and apple when I was short on apples. Both ways are delishious.

I HAD TO THROW IT AWAY. THE AMOUNT OF CINNAMON WAS OVERWHELMING. IT HAD BEEN SUCH A LONG TIME SINCE I HAD BAKED AN APPLE PIE, THAT I NEVER QUESTIONED THAT MUCH CINNAMON. I BELIEVED THAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN A MISPRINT, BUT I CAN SEE FROM READING OTHER REVIEWS, THAT IT WAS NOT A MISPRINT. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RECIPE TO ANYONE AND ALONG WITH THE PIE, THE RECIPE IS IN THE GARBAGE.
