This is the best waffle recipie out there! I have tried them all, whipping egg white and all in hopes of a great waffle. They have all been good but the fact that this recipie can be thrown together quickly is definatally a plus. Waffles come out with a perfect crumb.

This will be my primary waffle recipe from now on. Love the way they cook up, crispy, tender - perfect! Easy to put together. Previous recipes I liked required whipping egg whites - a bother! Now I don't have to.

I fooled around with this recipe until I got rid of the greasy feel, made it crisper and added more flavor. Here is my new favorite recipe.

    1/2 c. regular flour
    1/4 c. wheat flour
    1/4 c. cornstarch
    1/2 t. baking flour
    1/4 t. baking soda
    1/4 t. salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/8 c. 2% milk
    1/4 c. butter
    1 1/2 t. vanilla

Cook as per the original recipe.

I have recently bought a Villamare Pro Belgium Flip Waffle Maker and I double the recipe to feed 5 of us.

To get the extra crispness I like in a waffle, I used 1/2 cup AP flour with 1/4 cup whole wheat flour to make up the 3/4 cups of flour called for, and then followed the balance of the recipe. Waffle perfection! They held their crispness far longer on the plate, even under various toppings.

My family loves this recipe, though they hate to wait the 30 minutes for the batter to sit...but it is well worth it.

This was the first waffle I have made in the 11 years I have been married that my husband actually really enjoyed! I am not a true waffle lover but these are definately worth the time! Thanks Rachel for finding a great recipe for me.

After trying several waffle recipes, my family voted these the best. We've made them with 1% milk and they were good. Made with buttermilk, they are incredible. They're light and moist. I make extra and wrap them in plastic wrap to use during the week. They are easy to make and totally worth the wait.
