This looks great. Any ideas what I can substitute heavy cream for? I don't use it as a rule as it is too fattening for us....

My son and I watched you from the begining and anxiously awaited the outcome tonite. You were great!!! So great that we went right in and made a late night snack of your potato gratins. His comment " I will never eat regular potatoes again ". He thinks that my home cooking makes his tummy tingle. Thanks for sharing your great tummy tingling recipe and your wonderful inviting smile ,we are looking forward to you sharing more , CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

I am eagerly planning to try the potato gratins.

Melissa was the "perfect" choice, as we need a simple "good" cook to help teach the rest of us how to put the extra zip into our family favorites. I am delighted that she won and i will be a faithful watcher.

I've made this before but with milk (heavy cream is not very healthy. My problem is the concept of calling this a "5-minute" recipe. It takes more than 5 minutes to peel potatoes, then cut them up, then shred cheese etc... I suppose you could buy pre cut potatoes and pre shredded cheese but... that's not the idea right? They ARE good... just not as quick as it sounds.

Why do people "review" a recipe they haven't even tried yet? You review a recipe AFTER you've made it! You don't rate a recipe just because it "sounds" good. Your comments are totally useless!

I know Melissa will showcase ingredients that my family will eat and I'll be able to find them at my local food store. Congratulations Melissa!
