To die for... Because I am always DVR'ing almost everything, I especially had to save this episode.
These scones were DELICIOUS!!! My family and friends just absolutely loved these scones at a dinner party that we had at the house. They swore they were store brought until my husband said he say me rolling out the dough (hehehehe I'll keep this secret.

    Thanks Aaron!!!

Made this tonight to go with chicken noodle soup, and more scones were eaten than the soup. (Which is usually a favorite I only used 1 teaspoon of pepper and no sea salt on top. My husband requested eggs and scones for breakfast. Definitely a winner in my house!

These are the BEST savory scones I have EVER made or EVER had !! The smoked bacon and the egg wash/coarse salt are the KEY to this recipe. (Definitely don't skip this part. The cheesy, moist texture and peppery heat are a great combination ! I baked mine on a baking stone with GREAT results at 2 minutes less than baking time.

These are pretty good and easy to make. They setup just right. The flavor was good but nothing that necessarily made my taste buds sing.

A little peppery for me, so I cut that down the second time I made them. These scones are delicious. They fly out of the kitchen every time I make them. Kids love them.

I served these at my Easter Brunch. Everyone in the family loved them. My fussy eating, 8 year old grandson, had devoured three, even before everyone was seated for grace. I cut the quantity of pepper down because I have some that can't have too much spice.....they were still wonderful. I never thought I would see the day that I would use a box grater with a stick of butter....what a great technique to disperse it through the scones.
These will be a request at our house. Thank you, Arlene

I made these before Easter and they were a huge hit, so I made a double batch with Easter dinner and got raves! I am not a green onion fan so I used carmelized onion instead and everyone loved them. The double batch made a ton and there were lots left over, but everyone kept going back to munch on them all day long. Don't listen to anyone that says don't bother, you will not be disappointed. I have made them with both sharp and medium cheddar and both worked great. Be careful with the pepper. I didn't notice the first time that it calls for course pepper and added the TBSP of regular ground pepper, whew! Great recipe!

I made these for my Mom for Mother's Day. Huge hit!

Only thing I changed was that I didn't add the extra salt sprinkled on the top. I missed it but my mother was happy with that. She thought they were perfect. And isn't that what it was all about, anyway?

I've been deemed the family scone maker. :

    Bravo Aaron!

These were awesome. I did cut back on the salt to 1/2 tsp after reading the very salty comments and because I had some leeks that were going to go bad, I used them instead of the green onions. I can see putting all kinds of things in these scones. Thanks Aaron

I loved watching him make these and could not get them out of my mind until I made them. I questioned why the extra salt in the dough and on the top, but put it in anyway. The self-rising flour, cheese, bacon and butter have plenty and I should have omitted the tsp. added to the dough and the salt on top. I used 2 cups of cheese(even more salt and did not use the pepper or onions since I was feeding them to my child for breakfast. I will need to consume a couple of gallons of water today because I am eating them anyway since they are so good. I'm having dinner guests in a few weeks and will make them again with the pepper and onions....just without the extra salt.
