These I didn't use the jalepeno because my husband doesn't do spicy well but other than that I followed the recipe to the T and all I can say is awesome!! :

I think Aaron McCargo is a great chef. I think this recipe is good, but I had to not add the whole 1/2 cup of bread crumbs and reduce the salt of course. I don't know what crust is best, but the one I used was the Pillsbury pre-made crust. That one is not what I'm used to because I usually eat Jamaican beef patties. But its eatable still. Others suggested using filo dough its not a bad idea.

This recipe is EXCELLENT! I love spicy food and this fits the bill perfectly! A light dipping sauce with beef broth as the base takes it to another level - thanks Big Daddy!

Good recipe, but WAY too much salt - even if you use sea salt or kosher salt. That 1 tablespoon of salt caught my eye immediately; I used half the amount of kosher salt (1 1/2 teaspoons and it was fine for my taste.

I love Big Daddy recipes but this was not so great. The filling was really good. I added additional spices to lift it aready. The crust was not great. Too dry and flakey. The curry would of been better to add to the meat. I couldn't taste or appreicate it on the crust. Not worthe doing honestly.

The meat mixture is SO GOOD. But I think the pie crust seems to detract? And the curry powder doesn't add anything except more saltiness. It gets dry unless you have a dipping sauce. I used sour cream. Next time I make this, I'll try ...puff pastry? A yogurt-cucmber sauce might work with it? Dunno about that. Hmmm...

Oh my god you guys, this recipe was great- but have you used your head as stated above. If you use table salt, of course its too much, but not if you are using sea salt or kosher. Think before you act or review please.. LOVE YA AARON

I gave this four stars as opposed to five because the hubby likened the crust to chalk whereas I found these delicious. I decided to serve this with sour cream to dip in. The pie crust is an unusual taste with the savory filling, it's super flaky. To the reviewers who have whined about this being too salty... how about some common sense? How can you NOT realize that 1 TBSP of salt is ridiculous? 1/2 tsp is more like it. On the same token, shame on Food Network for allowing second rate, non-caring people to type up chef created recipes. You need quality control. There are far too many screwed up recipes here that are actually quite good but your "expert typists" who offer the recipes leave MUCH to be desired.

THe only reason I rated this awful was because of the amount of salt it called for. Thats a very important ingredient that to me can totally make it inedible. I should have went with my gut or remembered to look at the other reviews. I also didn't get much curry taste from the curry egg wash. I've had better homemade patties, I don't know why everyone loved it. The SALT TOTALLY KILLED IT FOR ME.
