I used ground turkey instead of beef. They were delicious. Next time, however, I will reduce the salt to 1 teaspoon instead of 1 tablespoon in the recipe. I also used only 1/4 cup of bread crumbs and 1/4 cup of chicken broth. I also used my homemade pie crust recipe.
My boyfriend is from a Carribean country. He said that they were the best meat patties he ever had. Now that is a compliment!

Followed the recipe, and used my own pie crust. Everyone loved it, I served it for a Malbec wine tasting and it paired great. Passed out copies of the recipe to everyone there.

I follwed the recipe to the letter and this was an absolute HIT! It was a little spicy for us (I used the equivalent of two peppers. My husband loved it with the mango papaya salsa. Great job Big Daddy!

My husband, being from England and a frequent Cariibbean traveler, is a meat pie connoisseur. He could not stop eating these, in fact I had to give him mine! They were spicy and extremely tasty. Now, I did not use a whole jalapeno because we have two small children and it was still pretty spicy. I can only imagine if I would have used the whole thing! Even the 2 year old basically licked her plate, and ask for more pie as she called it. I am doubling the recipe to feed my husband's poker buddies and don't expect to have any left overs! Well done Big Daddy! My 5 year old and I both love you!!!

I am a "foodie" and I collect cookbook, all of the recipes I have for meat patties are very complex. this was easy and great. Just like with any other recipe you adjust to your taste. It was spicy enough for me. I tvo the show so I never have to miss it. Melissa has a long ways to go, but the thing that drives me CRAZY is that she NEVER washes her hands. She wipes them with that damp cloth and then uses the same towel for clean-up. Can you say cross containination!!!!

These are absolutely fabulous and got rave reviews from everyone! I made a curry sour cream to go with them and they were to die for. Keep them coming, Aaron!

These things were AWESOME!!. I have beef patties from caribbean places and this rivals them but with more beef. I added a little more jalapeno since I love spicy. I did mis-read the recipe and only got one package of pie crust. so I have some left over beef but will be making more this week. It was a quick and easy recipe. Makes nice appetizers for a party.

I fixed the meat pies today with Daisy Martinez's Yellow Rice. What can I say, everything was great. I will be making these meat pies over and over. My first thought was, ooh my. Then I thought, these are great, a nice touch with the curry in the eggwash. My husband and sister also loved the meat pies. This will definitely be a go to dish for me. Thanks Big Daddy, love your show.

Thanks Aaron for showing us how this is done. I made them last night... tweaked it a little cuz I always gotta add my little touch (I added an African Hot Pepper powder ... I like things hot and oh my word they're heavenly! Savory, earthy spicy filling... flaky, golden crust. I call them Big Daddy's & Little Debbie's Spicy Beef Patties. Put them up on my food blog...gave you plenty of props, too.
