12 servings

  • 2 cups cranberry juice
  • 1 (6-ounce) bag sweetened dried cranberries
  • 1 cinnamon stick, broken in half
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 Gala apples, peeled, cored and diced
  • 2 teaspoons corn starch

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the cranberry juice, cranberries, cinnamon and sugar. Bring to a boil and let cook for 5 minutes. Add the apples and cook, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries have softened and apples are tender, about 5 minutes.

Remove 8 ounces of the liquid to a small bowl and whisk in the cornstarch. Slowly add the cornstarch-juice mixture (slurry) to the cranberry mixture, stirring constantly. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Remove from heat and pour into a serving bowl. Refrigerate until thickened, about 30 minutes. Remove the cinnamon sticks and serve.

Best and easiest cranberry sauce ever! Wonderful with Thanksgiving dinner and with brie and leftover turkey in a sandwich. Yum!!
I don't like the phrase "to die for" but this is wonderfully good! Everyone liked it too, and wanted the recipe. Yummers!
I loved this recipe. I like the sweet flavor of cranberries instead of the bitter. They were like baked cinnamon apples with a cranberry twist. Very delicious, easy to make and will make again!
This was an amazing way to make cranberry sauce. It was THE hit of thanksgiving. Hard to imagine that about cranberry sauce.
I made this Cranberry Sauce. This sauce is the best that I have ever tasted.
I used flavored Cranberry juice and added less than 1 cup of sugar. The apples looked beautiful in the sauce. When the sauce cooled off,I put it in
a Jelly jar.How pretty the sauce looked in the jar.My whole family really liked
this Cranberry Sauce.I cant wait to make more for Xmas. This is a keeper.
Wow...simple, delicious, and was gorgeous in my crystal dish....thank you :)
    This is a hit!
This will be my signature dish going forward. It has a great consistency and flavor. I split the recipe and did a Pomegranate Cinnamon and the Apple Cinnamon. The apple one i followed the recipe exactly and it turned out perfect.
For the Pomegranate ( this is half the recipe yield)
1 cup pomegranate arils instead of apple
1/4 cup POM juice ( pomegranate juice)
    1/4 cup cranberry juice
    8 ozs fresh cranberries
all other ingredients were exactly as stated...I will find out in a few days which is the better of the two but my votes is with the original apple cinnamon. The pomegranate was a little tart but you can add sugar as needed to compensate.
I typically do not like cranberries, however the cinnamon and apple just took this to a whole nutha level! Super fast super easy and looks beautiful!
EVERY YEAR, my family REQUIRES this dish at our Thanksgiving table. One's only mistake would be to not try this recipe. It's just that good. Period.
Unlike some of the other reviewers, my family and I love cranberry sauce, but I thought I'd give this a try. Wow - it is sooooo delish - it will be on my Thanksgiving table for years to come!!
I'm the only one in the family that enjoy cranberry sauce. I always make homemade with fresh cranberries, this year I'm trying this recipe!
Where can you find plain cranberry jc. rather than cranberry jc. cocktail?
usually in the natural food isle
Usually its in the organic food isle in most grocery a few it may be in the produce area close to Pomegranate juices etc.
Never been a fan of cranberry sauce, until I found this recipe. Been using this recipe for the past three years. My in-laws think I'm a master chef, thanks to this awesome recipe. Thanks Aaron!!!
Delicious! My husband doesn't normally like cranberry sauce, but he loves this sauce! The recipe is so easy and tasty that I stopped using the canned stuff.
    LOVE this recipe!
This is my perfect cranberry sauce. It's the only one we make every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas!
I was never a cranberry lover, but this recipe has changed that.
Simply wonderful. I plan to use it with all types of meats as a chutney. It was a big hit this Thanksgiving, thank you.
I made the cranberry sauce for my husband and child, since I typically do not eat it. I tried it just to see what all of the fuss was about, and it was excellent. Of course my husband and 2-year-old loved it! Thanks so much Aaron for sharing such a simple but delicious recipe!
EXCELLENT cranberry sauce. I did, however, add 3/4 cup of sugar instead of 1 cup per other reviews and it made it just right. Not too sweet, not too less sweet. Also, the longer it sits in the fridge, the better it is, IMO.
The very best cranberry sauce I've tasted. This was a huge hit at Thanksgiving dinner. I can't wait to also try this as a ham glaze. So easy, so tasty. Thanks Aaron
This was hands down the absolute best cranberry sauce I have ever had! I have traditionally hated the stuff, but I decided to make it this year since my boyfriend loves it. What fortune that I found this recipe! It was an absolute hit at Thanksgiving last night and cranberry sauce lovers and haters alike went back for seconds!
I have never liked cranberry sauce, so I went online to find something a bit different that we may actually eat. This recipe is AWESOME!! This was the hit of Thanksgiving, hands down. Flavor is incredible, easy to make, and the family is demanding a new batch the day after. We are also putting it on cheesecake, sweet potato pie, biscuits with ice cream . . . Didn't make any changes to the recipe. I just made sure we used 100% cranberry juice (not sweetened as other reviewers noted. Not too sweet at all. Great cinnamon flavor infused into the mix. About to make more now . . .
This was GREAT!!! I added one extra apple than it called for and had to double the corn starch to get it thick enough but the flavor was out of this world. Everyone loved it. The apples are great with this. I also squeezed the juice of one orange in it. I have some leftovers so I made some biscuits the next day for breakfast and used the cranberry sauce on them as jelly. WOW! I'm going to make some more just to have when I want it. Thanks Aaron
This recipe is perfect the way it is!People need to pay closer attention when reading the ingredients. The recipe clearly stated "Cranberry Juice" not the cocktail.Cocktail is sweeter. There is a difference between the two.I've been making this since I first saw Aaron make it. My family loves it.It's also one of those dishes that can be made a couple of days ahead..
    Thanks Aaron.
I'm not a huge cranberry fan, but this recipe is great! Not too tart. I now make this for every Thanksgiving meal!
This is THE BEST cranberry sauce recipe ever!!!! The only change that I would make to this recipe is adjusting the amount of sugar that you add to the sauce. The cranberry sauce that I made the first time was too sweet because I used juice cocktail instead of 100% cranberry juice. The juice cocktail is already super sweet. When adding the sugar I suggest that only a quarter cup be added and adjust based on your tastes when you taste the end product.
I don't typically like cranberry sauce but this recipe will make a believer out of anyone! This will be the third year in a row I'll make this dish for Thanksgiving, it has made it's way into our tradition.
This was a big huge hit with family. I did however, listen to a review which said too sweet. For the first batch I used 3/4 cup sugar but was still to sweet. For the next batch I used 1/4 cup and combined the two and was perfect. Other than that was very very good.
first time doing a turkey and/or cranberry sauce so looked for something easy - this was that, and for such an easy recipe, was surprised by the amazing flavor, just the right combination of sweet and tart - sharing with all my family and friends, thanks Aaron - u make me look real good :
