1 This recipe wasn't flavorful at all. The texture was fine, but I think the spice profile should have been at least doubled. Plus something like cumin would have made a big difference. 2 The Asian-type sauce didn't make any sense to me with the burger. It was tasty in and of itself, but didn't make sense on a bean burger.

Wow! Diablo HOT!....but oh so GOOD! I might tone down the heat a little with less red pepper flakes, black pepper, and go light on the Sriracha sauce drizzle next time (I poured it on a little too thick!. I also substituted egg replacer for the egg and halved the recipe for just the two of us...making large, thin burgers. Who needs meat when you can enjoy this scrumptious substitute?

I've made this recipe a number of times. Its really quite amazing. One trick that I've discovered for ensuring that the flavor is evenly spread out through each burger is to put all of the dry ingredients into a plastic bag and shake them to mix them together. Then, mix all of the wet ingredients in your bowl. Make a dip in the middle of the wet , and pour the contents of your dry bag into it. Mix everything until you can no longer see the white clumps (brown if you use wheat flour. I didn't have any this time.
This go round, I baked my burgers instead of frying them simply because I was makinh a lot for a fourth of July cookout :p 400 degrees for 10 minutes each side.

I made this for my Wife and Daughter tonight and we all loved it. I think next time I will reduce the amount of salt. We love pepper so the pepper was perfect. Some people might think it is a little hot due to the black pepper.

We served the patties with sliced avacado. Yummy! We will make them again for sure!

Delicious! I used a food processor to mash the beans and left some out and just smashed to add to the consistency. I also used finely chopped onion. We will definately have these again!

I love this burger. One hint I have for you is that you should only cook up what you plan to eat right away. They do not re-heat well but the mix stays will in the frig and cooks up fine for a day or two.
