I added a half a cup of bread crumbs instead of the flour (this is how it is done in the sandra lee recipe. I think this makes it less mushy. Also, I only pureed 3/4 of the beans. Keeping some whole helps make it not all mush. I would highly suggest to make at least 5 patties. When the patties are too thick the outside browns and results in an undercooked center. AI also halved the red pepper flakes and they weren't too spicey. All of the flavors are great though! My boyfriend wants them again.

Family favorite! I'm able to omit cooking them in oil by using a non stick pancake griddle to cook them.

Fantastic recipe! Incredibly easy and fast to prepare. I love the unusual tangy, smoky, spicy flavor. My husband and I eat these regularly. I usually dredge them in bread crumbs before cooking them- it helps them develop a nice crunchy crust.

I agree with everyone that said these burgers were mushy. BUt if you do a little altering, I suggest cooking the burgers in canola oil over olive oil, because olive oil burns quicker, and the burgers didn't seem to cook thoroughly enough. After using canola oil, the texture wasn't nearly as mushy, but still could still use some work. I think I'll try grilling next time. Wasn't the best black bean burger I've had regarding the taste.

Regular Worcestershire sauce is not vegetarian.

Finally a black bean burger that wasn't dry. I made it on the grill and added a little olive oil to the top before grilling. Crisp on top and moist in the middle. Just enough heat and not overwhelming. Thank you. A veggie burger easy and quick to make and delicious.

These were horrible. You might as well just mash up some black beans and put them on a bun because that is all that it tasted like. They didn't have a burger consistency at all.

Very good but the heat was so overwhelming, it distracted me and my guests from the flavor. Like it though. I also added 1 TBS cummin.
