I love the straight version for a quick, easy meal, but with a little heat they also make tasty appetizers. I'm planning on bringing a batch to a Super Bowl party instead of sliders. I'll just kick'em up with some crushed red pepper or Mexican hot sauce. And I might throw some diced poblano chiles into the potatoes- which I place on top as is traditional. (I miss me Big Daddy! :-(

Solid recipe, but the seasoning on the potatoes was ridiculous... and I say that as a smoker with dulled taste buds. Two tablespoons of onion powder and one of garlic powder in a cup and a half of potatoes?!? No. I feel like a fool. We discussed the fact that we have NEVER put that much of either powder into anything... but, hey, the recipe said so, right? Ugh. That's why I distrust online recipes - typos. I am convinced it should have been teaspoons. That amount of seasoning on those potatoes taints the entire dish. Adjust that, and you should be fine, and this review would have gotten four stars.

Did a quick search for "ground beef" and this selection came up on the second page. I'm SO glad it did. This was terrific-I didn't have fresh herbs, so I used about a teaspoon of dried rosemary, no parsley and I added a little Worcestershire sauce instead of salt and I used half of a small can of green peas for my veg. It was great and my husband loved it. Thanks, Big Daddy!

this was a great recipe! it was a nice twist to a family favorite. i followed one change another member mentioned watching the seasoning. i used no salt at all in my ground beef but used the rosemary and fresh parsley, minced garlic, onion powder and pepper along with the stock...with my mashed potatoes i used garlic powder and onion powder with butter of course. i used grands biscuits, i was worried they would be too big but they worked perfectly. i followed another change by putting the meat/veg combo first with mashed potatoes and cheese on top..i will try again!

Great recipe, but waaaaaaaaay over-seasoned! Cut the seasonings in half and it's perfect :o

These were fantastic...however I did make a few changes. I used crescent rolls instead of biscuits. I only used peas instead of mixed vegetables and I used about 1/2 cup. I used about 1/2 cup broth and added some worcestershire. I think next time I make them I will reverse the filling and put the meat on the bottom and potatoes on top (like a regular shepherds pie. Even my 14 month old loved these (minus the roll...I had just a little leftover filling so I made a small pie for him.

Have made this a few times, simple and taste great. There were no leftovers and my brother asked me to make it for dinner tonight again. We love Big Daddy's recipes. Keep up the good work!
